Sophia has appeared as a frequent guest on "Praise in the City" with Tiffany Bacon on Philadelphia's Inspiration Radio Station, WPPZ 103.9FM, and she has written and published articles for WRNB 100.3FM. The radio appearances have been especially effective for delivering helpful, healing information to people who otherwise may not seek counseling. Through radio, Ms. Avery hopes to remove the stereotypes and erase the stigma that prevents Christians, particularly in the African-American community, from seeking counseling.
Sophia Avery is an engaging public speaker and has appeared at several Women's Retreats and church events. Her appearances include not only speaking and presenting, but also facilitating group sessions, and conducting mini (30-minute) Individual counseling sessions with retreat attendees. The mini counseling sessions are a crowd favorite, and add a new dimension of healing to Women's retreats.
Ms. Avery believes Christians must begin to focus on their emotional well-being and spiritual health in order to walk in the fullness of God's love. Through counseling sessions, she has seen many people overcome their fears, break through strongholds, be delivered from deep emotional pain and depression, and be healed from childhood emotional wounds. Many have gone on to find healthy friendships and relationships, pursue their passions, and live their lives in peace, as God intended.
Sophia is grateful for the opportunity to serve God and people by providing wise counsel and ministering to the emotional and spiritual needs of His children.
